Round and round and round we go……

It’s not a lack of inspiration, it’s a total lack of time. It’s actually not even a lack of time, it’s just a compulsion to read everything and watch everything I can about the state of my country and then I look up and the clock strikes midnight. It’s wearing on MP, and Lottie is pretty fed up with being ignored. She sat quietly licking my foot the other night while I read, and read, and read…

So, you can imagine how delighted I was to receive this care package from a thoughtful friend. Perfect timing to receive such generosity. It was pretty much tailor made to every single thing that would make me feel better right now: fabric, snacks, art, treasure, soaps and scrubs, and even something to Lottie. I’m going to give myself a time out from the tube and the political sites, or else I will implode. I need to get back to sewing and making, using my hands and setting my mind free.

Deep Breath…..
Remember this segment from Seinfeld?
Well….I feel about these pants how Jerry felt about Goldenboy. I’m not a picky person, I never try things on in a store before I buy them, so to have a pair of pants that are made in a perfect fit-well- it’s the holy grail. These cords have lasted me 5 years. They come out in the fall and are worn consistently through spring. It seems I put them away last spring with a very worn area in the seat because they are out of storage, ready for another season and I wore them yesterday. As soon as I got to work, and folded my legs up, crosslegged, I heard a distinctive “rrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiip“. Luckily I was wearing a long tunic top, so the secret was safe. But my heart was broken!

It’s a good thing I can sew and mend… because I am not ready to relinquish them. They will rise again!

Starting the V1038 pattern for the top…. it’s going to be fun. This pattern uses a lot of fabric and has many pieces, but so far it’s going together like a dream. I’m using a light gray, organic cotton that will have nice drape and simple texture…

In other news, I ordered new fabric for another bag…. I’m not really enjoy this bag, it’s too big for me. I’m going to revisit the previous mock-up I made and see if I can pick up where I left off. The fabric I’ve chosen for the outside is from Amy Butler’s August Fields collection…and I think the interior may be a dark denim. Though I haven’t decided.

This is too funny to not post…. if the link is broken, you can watch it on NBC, but there will be advertisements…
Ok…that link is broken. You can see it here.
I’m trying to get my yarn situation, and pattern ideas, in order. It’s a little out of control this stash. When things are this out of control, you keep buying and planning without realizing you might already have a yarn to use or a pattern you’ve forgotten about… you know the drill. I am going to get it in order on Ravelry and sort it out.

In other news, the Totoro hats have started. I started with the hat for Biscuit (the littlest Totoro, the white one) and will make Fin’s (the big one) and Milo’s (the medium one) in the next few weeks.

The air at night is starting to chill, and this breathes life and energy into my soul. I love the cold weather. The light, the air, just the way way of being in cold weather makes me happy and stirs my creative spirit. So long summer… so long smelly streets, blinding sunlight, heat waves, frizzy hair and sweat.
It’s no secret that I am a fan (and shareholder!) of Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm. Everything about the farm- the wool, the location, the photos, Susie- it’s all magical. Apparently a publishing company did as well. MVFF has been asked to write a book about the farm! True to form, Susie is sharing the opportunity with her readers, she’s having a couple of contests: submit an original knitting pattern and if it wins, she will include it in the book! Also- help them come up with a name for the book and she will shower you with MVFF ‘goodness’.
I know there’s lots of knitters out there making beautiful patterns, so you should head on over and submit a pattern to be made with MVFF wool. Good Luck!
