I need a little favor….does anyone out there read Turkish? Babelfish & AltaVista don’t do Turkish and the one online Turkish translator I found is fairly useless. I am having a little problem with a blog that has taken my photos and my kimono pattern for their own use. I can’t seem to email them , join the ‘network’ or even comment to request they take my photos and pattern down.
If anyone out there could give me some tips on this situation, or, if you happen to speak Turkish- that would be a GREAT help. Feel free to email me if you have any info that would help.
Thanks!

Where is the website hosted? If you can’t make contact with the owner of the website, you can contact their provider and ask that they have it removed. Of course, if the host is based in Turkey that may not help you much.
Go here: http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php and look up the IP, then look them up on Arin.net on the right where it says “Search WHOIS” and you should be able to go from there. Most servers will list an “Abuse” phone number and email address.
I certainly can’t speak Turkish, but hopefully this might help.
Good luck!

Why do people do this? I can’t comprehend it.
I’m sorry, but I cannot help you.

Thanks guys….I don’t know why people do this. It is a total disappointment. It’s not even something subtle or “reinterpreted”, it’s my photos, my pattern, etc. Bum-mer.
I will try the links you sent me Katie, thanks so much. It says the IP is hosted in Besiktas, Turkey. Oh boy.
I was also thinking of speaking to a professor at Harvard and explaining the situation, maybe they would have a little sympathy?

I’ve never met anyone who speaks Turkish… I hope you get this sorted out. How did you know they stole your stuff?

I know. I have access to a wide swath of languages and speakers, but no Turkish. Hmm…..
As for how I found it, well, there is one photo in my Flickr that has ridiculous stats….I periodically check on it, then I forget about it for a few months. Well, another photo is catching up to it all of a sudden (a picture of a kimono) and I checked the referrer. Low and behold, the land of Turkish craft sites was unearthed. Basically, I just stumbled on to the whole thing.
Taking the photos is not as big a deal as taking my pattern…..I just wish I could get a sense of the scale, in other words, is this just lame blogging etiquette (not linking back to me) or is this person claiming my work as their own? I just can’t tell in anyway, I’m hoping it’s not the latter……..that would really stink.

Oh, I just realised that might have been the one that you have already tried. So here are a couple of others …
http://translationbooth.com/tb/aojb/Tpl/freeTranslation/
http://translation.babylon.com/Turkish (translates one word at a time, but looks like there is some free downloadable software for blocks of text)

Thank you Hoppo, none of them worked. I might to the one word at a time one though….I downloaded that software earlier today and it literally overtook my computer and changed everything. So, I unloaded it.
I’m going to get to the bottom this…somehow….

Hey Amy, just a thought. Why don’t you post something here and maybe someone might offer to help? http://turkish.meetup.com/18/messages/boards/?forum=42506&sort=ThreadViewCount&order=DESC

Well, I’ve managed to leave comments on her site. And she is aware that I know, it just seems she doesn’t care. So, I guess the only other thing to do is get a lawyer involved. Good thing my niece is a lawyer!

Hi Amy,
I can translate and tell her what she did directly without doubt. I am native Turkish speaker, If you like me to do this let me know.
